Art workshop statement
Art activities for "New Ecologies", which comprise of Photo workshop with children, Dance performance, Ceramic workshop and Experimental music performance, are preceded by live and creative activities with a wide variety of people. The attendances will be acknowledged and comprehended in the process of how to make an artwork within different kinds of perception. These experimental art activities advance to vivid atmosphere and encourage people to fulfill a sense of collaboration for contemporary art of this New Ecologies’ event.
1. Introduction to Chinese brush painting by Ingrid Van der Heyden
On Friday February 6 from 10 - 12 am
On Friday March 6 from 10 - 12 am
Participation fee: 500 bht/person including rice paper, ink and brushes
East by West, painting techniques exchange within Chinese brush painting workshop. Ingrid Van der Heyden, Belgian artist who holds a master degree in traditional Chinese painting, will lead the workshop at Sheraton Resort. The philosophy of brush painting is contrast and harmony, expressing simple beauty and elegance. In creating a picture the artist must grasp the spirit of the subject, attempting to capture the Chi or "life spirit" of the subject, painting in the language of the spirit. This workshop aims at beginners who want to grasp some knowledge on Traditional Chinese brushpainting and give it a try themselves. The workshop is in English.
2. Site specific dancing performance by Nuttawat Sitti (Thai performance artist)
On Sunday 22nd February 2009 (7.30-8.30pm) Proceeded by Happy hour from 5 pm around Pool area.

Thai artists Nuttawat Sitti and friends will present site specific-contemporary dancing performance with moving image on 22nd of February 2009.
The performance is intended to reflect and imitate environments’ skins and atmosphere around Splash Lagoon area. The idea has been risen up by the question “Why peace and harmony always happen after disasters and conflicts?" Harmony from aesthetic, therefore inspire how to begin the world’s peace acts.
3. Ceramic on the beach workshop by Pratya Raktabutr
On Saturday March 14th and Sun March 15th from 10 to 3 pm
Participation fee, including finished workpiece , for 2 days : 2000 Bht/person
Registration with payment in advance at Sheraton Hotel /
Maximum participants: 15 persons
Among enjoyable and chilled out surrounding, 2 day Ceramic workshop is led by ceramic artist, Pratya Raktabutr who will teach how to make sand casting and Raku firing on the beach. The workshop will be held at the beachfront of Sheraton Resort Pattaya. On Sunday afternoon participants can take home their finished glazed work piece.
4. Experimental electronic music performance with motion graphic by Chaturavit Chattralada with Slowreverse:
On Saturday March 28th at 6.30pm
Happy hour from 5 till 7 pm on beachfront area

Cool sunset party with live experimental electronic music is performed by Chaturavit Chattraladay and friends (Kitschkat & Slowreverse)
5. Photo workshop by Manipa Jayawan
Introduction to schools April 1, 2 and 3
Exhibition of the works April 24, 25 and 26
Opening and award giving Fr. April 24th 6.30 pm
Photo workshop with a few international schools in the region for 14-16 year old art students encourages children’s creativity by photographing during April 2009. The objectives aim to trace lives, experiences and livelihoods of each one in the child’s world and how the interpretation will be developed by art. Everyone’s works will be displayed at Sheraton Resort Pattaya during 24th-26th of April 2009. A jury will choose the best picture fitting into the New Ecologies statement.
